Synopsis:

The Groovie Goolies were originally paired with Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies, which aired during the 1970-71 season, before spinning off into their own show in the fall of '71. The series took place in and around a creepy castle dubbed 'Horrible Hall,' and starred a cast patterned after the same horror-film monsters that were made classic in the 1930s and 1940s. Unlike their big-screen counterparts, the animated monsters turned out to be anything but horrible, except maybe in their joke telling. The show featured a series of short skits and one-liners with an occasional song thrown in, reminiscent of the nighttime variety show Laugh-In, and even made use of a laugh track.

Tom Drac, Wolfie and Frankie were given the majority of camera time, but the cast included a virtual parade of manic monsters, including the Thing-Eating Plant, the two-headed Dr. Jekyll/Hyde, switchboard operator Bella La Ghostly, the disembodied Ghoulihand, Orville Mummy, the witch Hagatha, the Ask-it Casket, skeleton Napoleon Boneapart and the green-skinned vampire twins Ratzo and Batzo.

True to the undead nature of most of its characters, The Groovie Goolies resurfaced a full three years after it had initially gone off the air. Re-debuting in 1975, the show aired for one more year before finally succumbing to the axe.

The show also ran in syndication for many years under the title Groovie Goolies and Friends. Along with the double G’s, this show featured such segments as Lassie’s Rescue Rangers, My Favorite Martians, The New Adventures of Gilligan, The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty, and Uncle Croc’s Block. Ironically, Uncle Croc’s Block was the show the Goolies replaced when they were brought back by ABC in ’75.

"Everybody shout!

Come on now, sing out!

It's time for the Goolies get-together.

They got jokes for everyone,

With laughter, songs, and fun,

So let's go to the Goolies get-together.

Come on, everybody

Join the Goolies.

They're gonna do their thing for you.

They're kinda strange,

They're real funny,

You'll be glad to know,

They love you too!

Everybody shout!

Come on now, sing out!

It's time for the Goolies get together.

How funny they can be,

Cause it's time for the Groovie Goolies Show."
