After Yogi Bear
became so popular that he was removed from the lineup of
The
Huckleberry Hound Show and given his own series, his slot on
that show was replaced with Hokey Wolf. Hokey Wolf and his
diminutive sidekick Ding-a-Ling (also a wolf) were reminiscent
of Yogi and Boo Boo, but with a few twists. Although Yogi
conned a few picnic baskets out of campers in his time, Hokey
was a master conman who could coax free meals out of the
clueless with ease. His voice and mannerisms owed a lot to
Phil Silvers' popular Sgt. Bilko character. |
