Synopsis:

Based on the Swamp Thing toyline by Kenner and inspired by the Swamp Thing comic book and movies, this series followed Swamp Thing's battle with Dr. Arcane and his mutant henchmen the Un-Men.

Brilliant scientist Dr. Alec Holland had unlocked the secrets of biogenetics and created a synthetic growth formula for the purpose of solving the problem of world hunger. His rival Dr. Anton Arcane wanted the formula in the hopes of achieving immortality, and to get it he and his henchmen invaded the lab of Alec Holland. When they struggled for a vial containing a sample of the finished formula it was accidentally dropped and shattered, and Alec Holland was doused with its contents, transforming him into a mutant combination of man and plant called "Swamp Thing." Afterwards, he took up residence in the swamp, manipulating his own form into the forms and features of the plants around him, and searched for a way to become human again.

Arcane continued to pursue Swamp Thing, attempting to capture him and steal the secret of the essence that had transformed him (which would effectively put an end to Swamp Thing), but Swampy was far from helpless. Along with his newfound abilities, he had numerous allies. He was helped by sympathetic teenagers Delbert and J.T., Indian game warden Tomahawk, Bayou Jack and even Arcane's step-daughter Abby.

Fans of the walking plant-man would have to be content seeing their hero in a limited number of episodes. The proposed cartoon series never took off, and only five episodes were made.
